As I look back over the year, I also think about the triumphs. Help the Hoo-Hahs raised $10,000 for women with South Carolina and Georgia with GYN cancers! It is hard to believe that in the large metropolitan Savannah, Georgia area, there was no fund to help women with cervical, vaginal, uterine, or vulvar cancers and only a small fund for women with ovarian cancer. I am so proud that we are helping women with tangible things they need and I'm already thinking about 2012's big 5K race. My goal for 2012- $20,000!
In all, I am incredibly thankful to be alive and doing well. I hear stories of other women and families affected by cancer and I thank God, my family and my friends for getting me through the last year. So many women aren't so lucky. I still can't get over the irony of having my surgery in January, which is Cervical Cancer Awareness month. As we're all making our New Year's resolutions, I only hope everyone will think about the women in their life and remind them to have their yearly GYN visit. It could truly save your life!! Happy New Year!
